Each year, 300 million pairs of shoes are thrown away by Americans alone. Affecting both consumers and the environment. How might we encourage the users to hold on to a shoe for longer? AST_R makes it incredibly easy for the users to extend the life span of their footwear. The extreme modularity and knock down fittings encourage the user to repair or replace worn down components. By replacing components of shoes, it lessens the overall impact of the current life cycle within footwear.
